Where Riu Montego Bay is

Mahoe Bay, Ironshore, about 7 miles east of Sangster International and just before the Rose Hall strip proper. All three Riu properties share this beachfront.

The route from Sangster International Airport (MBJ)

• Head east from MBJ on the A1 towards Ironshore.
• Pass the Ironshore commercial plaza — the last easy supermarket and ATM stop before the resorts.
• Turn seaward at the Mahoe Bay entrance; the access road serves all three Riu properties.
• Riu Montego Bay is the family property of the three; Riu Reggae is adults-only and Riu Palace is the higher-category one.

Arrival procedure at Riu Montego Bay

1. 1Confirm which Riu you are booked into before you travel — we ask on booking for exactly this reason.
2. 2The driver gives your name at the Mahoe Bay gate and pulls up at the Riu Montego Bay lobby.
3. 3Riu check-in is 3pm; wristbands are issued at the desk before you can use the facilities.
4. 4Bags are handled by the resort porters at the lobby door.

Which vehicle suits this transfer

This is Riu's family property, so most groups here are families of four to six with a lot of luggage. The Standard Van (Toyota Noah) handles four to six passengers, and the 12-seat Hiace suits multi-family or extended-family groups travelling together — worth the small extra rather than splitting into two vehicles at the airport.

One suitcase plus one carry-on per person included. Families with strollers, beach gear or extra cases should say so at booking so we send the minibus instead of the van. Note that we do not supply child seats; parents bring their own if needed.

Your return transfer

Pickup is 3 hours before departure. The drive is only 15 minutes, but MBJ's check-in hall gets very busy mid-morning when several Riu departure waves overlap, so we do not shorten this window.
