The drive from Sangster International Airport (MBJ) to Negril

• You head west out of Montego Bay through Reading, then pick up the A1 coast road hugging the shoreline through Hopewell and Sandy Bay.
• Around the 30-mile mark you pass Lucea, the Hanover parish capital, with its clock tower and harbour — this is also where the Grand Palladium resorts sit, roughly two-thirds of the way to Negril.
• The last stretch runs through Green Island and Orange Bay before the road opens onto Long Bay and the northern end of Seven Mile Beach.
• West End and cliff properties like Rockhouse and The Caves are a further 10–15 minutes past the roundabout, on a narrower and slower road.
• It is a scenic but winding drive with occasional roadworks. If anyone in the party is prone to motion sickness, ask for a front seat when you book.
