Riu Ocho Rios is at Mammee Bay, a few minutes west of Ocho Rios town and — usefully — only about ten minutes from Dunn's River Falls. From Montego Bay it is a 70-mile run on the north coast highway, which is the best long road in Jamaica: straight, well surfaced and largely coastal. Many guests use the arrival drive to stop at the falls rather than spending a separate day on it.

Mammee Bay, Saint Ann, on the coast just west of Ocho Rios town and close to the Dunn's River Falls entrance.
Riu Ocho Rios draws a mixed family and group crowd, and this is a 1 hour 40 minute drive — the longest of our common routes. The Toyota Noah van suits families of four to six; larger groups should book the 12-seat Hiace so nobody is wedged between suitcases for the full run. Air conditioning and Wi-Fi are standard.
One suitcase and one carry-on per traveler included. On this long a drive we would rather send a bigger vehicle than stack bags around passengers, so give us the real luggage count at booking.
See the full fleetPickup for the return is 4 hours 30 minutes before departure: the drive alone is 1 hour 40 minutes, and MBJ's check-in and security queues do the rest. Guests flying out of Ian Fleming (OCJ) instead only need about 90 minutes.
Track your flightDunn's River Falls
Roughly 10 minutes away — the climbable 180-foot waterfall, and the reason many guests choose Mammee Bay.
Mystic Mountain
Bobsled, zipline and rainforest chairlift above Ocho Rios, about 15 minutes east.
Blue Hole (Island Gully)
Inland river pools and rope swings, about 25 minutes; quieter than Dunn's River.
Green Grotto Caves
Limestone caves at Runaway Bay, about 25 minutes west on the road back.
We run all of these as private excursions — see our tours.
